Background: Ira Chernus is a Professor of Religious Studies at the University of Colorado at Boulder. He is the author of Monsters To Destroy: The Neoconservative War on Terror and Sin (2006). Recent articles include, “War Meets Values on Campaign Trail” (July 29, 2008) and “Obama, McCain and Munich” (May 23, 2008). His columns have appeared around the county in papers like Atlanta Constitution, St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Miami Herald, Houston Chronicle, and the Denver Post. In recent years his popular commentaries have appeared most often online. He writes regularly for www.commondreams.org and www.tomdispatch.com.
