Two: Early in the Morning – discussing local issues & agriculture
Join Gary Olson and me, Billy Wetherington, (I’m substituting for Francis Scheuer who’s on leave) on Wednesday August 20, 2008 from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. EDT. We’ll be doing our usual reports and commentary on issues and activities in the Sarasota area. Gary won’t be in the studio, but he will be calling in from about 7 to 7:30 to co-host by phone. (He’s got jury duty on Wednesday. Wish him luck.)
This week during the second hour we’ll be broadcasting the interview of Doctor John Ikerd from a previous show. Dr. Ikerd is Professor Emeritus in Agricultural Economics from the University of Missouri and a leading advocate for restoration of small and/or family farms in America. He offers many insights into how to create a sustainable local agricultural economy.
We’ll also discuss local agricultural options in Sarasota, the latest on the Boston Red Sox and the proposed conversion of the newly renovated Payne Park for the Sox. We’ve also found some interesting statistics about voters and political parties in Sarasota and also how recall petitions work if you’re disappointed in your local elected officials. We’ll also report on the hurricane that didn’t hit.
I hope you tune in and call up. The studio line is 941-355-4540.
Billy Wetherington
