They also had special recording connections to the Mamas & Papas and influences on the Grateful Dead. Then there were their movie songs for early works by the legendary director Francis Ford Coppola. Radio Dave will present all this and every hit single the Lovin’ Spoonful ever had…plus the story of how they got their name…”borrowed” by the lyrics to a song by legendary Delta blues performer Mississippi John Hurt. Then there are all the hit singles, including a famed television theme, that the Lovin’ Spoonful’s lead singer John Sebastian recorded…Radio Dave will play those for you, too. Stories and myths about songs you can sing along with…it’s all on the next edition of “Liner Notes,” Tuesday, May 15 from 12 Noon to 2PM.

Frank Baum, Donovan, Eric Burdon, Billy Joel, and Stevie Wonder. Other notable events include the Stones return to the Ed Sullivan Show, the debut of the Smothers Brothers, Brown vs. Board of Education, and the BBC’s ban of a Beatles’ song. And, as always, there will be the usual madcap mix of music, commentary, and other ramblings out of the time warp that make Tuesday evenings worth living. . .
