When I arrived in Sarasota in 2004 to attend New College, I wasted no time getting involved with WSLR. The local NPR station of South Florida was really important to me through my teenage years, and it felt natural to fall in with the local radio station in my new home. I acted as the programmer of "Radio Free Ham Center" from 2004-2005, when WSLR was broadcasting only on New College intranet. Later in 2005, I made the first student on-air broadcast, and soon began "The Split LP" with another programmer from New College. I was away from Sarasota from June through December 2006 in order to intern at the Prometheus Radio Project in Philadelphia, and to
attend The Salt Institute for Documentary Studies in Portland, Maine, for their radio program. This past summer of 2007 I served as WSLR's intern, doing production, event-planning, and logistics, as well as helping with
WSLR's efforts towards the immanent full-power FM boom. I currently produce stories for WSLR's evening news and co-host "The Good Tape," alt. Wednesdays from 11pm-1am.
