WSLR's Youngest DJ makes the Guinness Book of World Records
August 21st, 2007

WSLR is proud to now be the home of "The World's Youngest Radio DJ" - an official Guinness World Record designation awarded to Joshua Rabow who hosts "The Saturday Morning Cartoon Show" with his older brother Aaron on the first and third Saturdays of every month from 9-10 a.m. Joshua and Aaron launched the show back in March when Joshua was still 7 years-old and Aaron was 10.

The idea to approach Guinness was actually Joshua's own idea after his dad, Steve Rabow, suggested in jest that Joshua was probably the youngest D.J. in the world. But when Joshua asked his dad if he thought there might be a chance to get into the Guinness Record Book Steve took the question very seriously. Their efforts paid off and now the "title" belongs to our (and the world's) youngest radio D.J. In 2005, when he was 6 years-old, Joshua was a Florida Studio Theater's Young Playwright Festival Award Winner beating out over 5000 other plays submitted from around the world. His play was titled: "How To Keep Your Pants Up!" Joshua and Aaron attend New Gate School. Congratulations again from all of us at WSLR!!

WSLR Sees a Lot of Potential Strength in Low-Power FM
August 21st, 2007

Florida Media Project reports "Sarasota Radio Station Sees a Lot of Potential Strength in Low-Power FM."

"On-air personnel at one of this West Coast city’s newest local radio stations identify it repeatedly not just by its call letters – WSLR – but also by its license category – LPFM, which stands for low-power FM.

"The station is a unique animal in the Sarasota audio jungle – and one of just a few in all of Florida listening land."
