Citizens for District Power founder Pat Rounds will join Cathy Antunes for a community conversation. Officially launching this month, Citizens for District Power is a non-partisan group created to support the overwhelming 2018 voter mandate for Single-Member Districts. 60% of voters in all five districts supported SMD despite developer efforts to scuttle it. 95% of County precincts supported SMD.
The current County Commission seems determined to silence citizen voices and to nullify voter mandates with their flawed District map. Residents have the power to change the direction of Sarasota County if we work towards a common goal—having a County Commission that cares about our quality of life. Commissioners will be elected in Districts 1, 3 and 5 this year—providing the potential for a new majority and a positive change.
