Enjoy some of Sarasota’s favorite trios in a variety of genres:  Handmade Rootsgrass, Gypsy Swing, Chicago Blues & Roots,  and Irish Speed Folk.

Hot Club SRQ plays Gypsy Jazz that is deeply rooted in the style of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli. The heart of this ensemble is the violin and vocals of Keven Aland, the guitar of Jon McLaughlin and bass playing of Glenn Stevenson. Their string jazz ensemble has been thoughtfully cultivated and crafted for over a decade.

Sycamore Shade blends its deep background in traditional, front porch Appalachian music and instrumentation with a variety of contemporary styles. Artists as diverse as Tom Petty and Little Feat, Old 97’s and Cheap Trick can find their way to a Sycamore Shade performance, along with originals and old time folk and bluegrass. The band’s homemade acoustic music, wrapped up in simple strings and soaring vocal harmonies, would make Mother Maybelle proud. Perplexed, but proud.

RJ Howson – Fire branded in the Chicago blues circuit, roots rocker and bluesman RJ Howson picked up his skillful guitar chops performing and sharing the stage with blues icons and fellow musicians at Buddy Guy’s Legends, Rosa’s Lounge, Kingston Mines, BLUES on Halstead and many other clubs in the Windy City and playing countless shows all over the midwest. RJ continues to be steeped in the southern stews since moving to Florida with openers for Butch Trucks & the Freight Train Band, Dickey Betts & Great Southern, the Atlanta Rhythm Section, Molly Hatchet, Buddy Guy and a host of legendary musicians.

Clover’s Revenge is a dangerous intersection of two Irish musical traditions: Acoustic pub music & Celtic punk rock.  Using the simplest possible instrumentation, the trio creates an explosive sound, with detailed harmonic lines, complex rhythms and provocative original lyrics, all at speed.  Steeped – no – pickled in the traditions of the Dubliners, Pogues, Silly Wizard and Flogging Molly, the band insists upon high-speed, technical traditional tunes and punk rock badassery.
