The Fogartyville Songwriter Series is a new showcase opportunity to highlight some of the region’s best songwriting talent. It will run the second Monday of every month, starting in September and continuing through May 2025. Musicians and music fans are invited to gather to hear a trio of songwriters in the round playing their craft and describing their songwriting experience. We love the songwriter round format because it facilitates a deeper connection between the individuals sharing the stage, and encourages storytelling and spontaneous collaboration.

The September event will be hosted by Carmela Pedicini.

Carmela has been a singer/songwriter and active locally as a performing musician since she played her first professional gig at age 16. She has recorded five full length albums – one with Radio Free Carmela & The Transmitters, and 4 with her current band, Passerine. Touring national and internationally with Passerine, she has shared her songs in every kind of venue from pubs to listening rooms, from coffee houses to big festival stages, from intimate house concerts to big auditorium shows.

Kelly Goddard is a singer and songwriter From Tallahassee, FL. As one-third of the band, The New 76ers, she has toured and played in venues and festivals all over Florida and the southeast. Under their cooperative Tallahassee label “Ping Records” the band released two full length and two EP recordings. Kelly has lent her vocal support to multiple other Florida based musicians and bands (Grant Peeples, Revival, Dan Newman, and the not yet released Voices: A Folk Opera written by Kathryn Belle Long

Her original songs span from eternal themes of love and loss, redemption, and forgiveness to existential themes like a warming climate and a woman’s right to choose. Kelly is learning new things and dipping her toes into new waters, playing solo a little more, but her highest hope remains to connect with others and spread joy and love through her music.

Carrie Hamby

I’ve been writing songs since they were still calling it “Junior High,” but waited to start performing my own music til I was in my 30s. Every job (even a really cool state job) eventually felt like a dead-end until I finally started making music my vocation, playing solo and in groups as close to full time as possible since 2003. Always gravitating toward American roots music, even when composing original tunes, allows me to blend chameleon-like into a lot of disciplines – old time, bluegrass, jazz, and blues foremost among them.

One of the nicest things anyone ever wrote about me:
“A female Randy Newman”

Prophetic words that got me started down this path:
“Art is the center of the real world.”
