Critical Times 6:00 PM 2.15.19

Written by on Friday, February 15, 2019

From WSLR 96.5 LPFM, this is the Critical Times. I’m Giulia Heyward. For the next half-hour, we’ll be exploring local politics and grassroots activism–all happening in your backyard. This week, Representative Margaret Good has announced a “stormwater project” to address red tide and herbicide in the area. The Critical Times spoke with partner, Sean Patton on the project. With the anniversary of the Parkland shooting, and the review of SPB 7030, which would allow firearms to teachers, the Sarasota Brady Campaign spoke to the Peace & Justice Report on their goals going forward. Million Hoodies has partnered with the No Place for a Child Coalition for a Juvenile Transfer Reform In-Person Training Workshop this weekend. We spoke to one of the instructors on this event. In celebration of BHM, Valerie Buchand of the Newtown Nation is here to speak about its legacy in Newtown. As always, Dennis Maley from the Bradenton Times is here as well as Lew Lorini of Surreal News. We have reporter, Alex Conte, with her activist calendar. All of this and more coming up, don’t touch that dial. !
