Opening Night featuring Haitian Folk Dancers from Se Pa’m Dance Company, the Steel Drums of Marco Ciceron, Island Music by De Mush Fire Band, Jamacian Cuisine from Audrey’s, and a Fine Art Exhibit by Local Artists!

Featuring the work of local artists: Kaytee Esser, B. McCormick, Debby Hall, Kelly DuMar, Shauna Lee Lange, Leslie Meeker, Maurice Reyes, Herbie Rose, Jeff Smith, Dwight Rose, and Brenda Robinson.

Kaytee’s light, bright and fun style demonstrated in her oil paintings captures the rich character and personality of life. She is an educator, accomplished archeological illustrator, and commission artist of portraiture of both people and pets.

At one time an architectural photographer and industrial designer – and currently an experiential designer, B . McCormick is always looking for the next ‘moment’ to capture. She has a pretty good sense of humor as demonstrated in her Too Much Rum series. “The colors were intoxicating, and the music swirled . . . was it the heat , or the rum?”

Debby is a self-taught artist who’s style can be best classified as expressionism. She paints to convey emotions rather than reality. Many of her works convey social, cultural, and universal issues. Art is in all of us, just expressed in many ways.

For Kelly, writing and taking photos of nature nourishes her spirit, body, and mind to the essence of a habitat. Kelly is a poet, playwright, and creative writing workshop leader from Boston. She is an author of three poetry collections and Before You Forget – The Wisdom of Writing Diaries for Your Children.

Shauna is a US Veteran and self-taught artist. She maintains a full-service illustration and design advisory working in personal geographies and environments. Her fine art making decisions are based on inspired seasonal moods, colors, and compositions.

Leslie photographs because it encourages her to more closely examine the world around her. Otherwise, she’ll just walk on by.

Maurice is one of the most important visual artists in Santiage de Cuba, a Cuban city rich in all of the arts. This work by Maurice is on loan from Jean Blackburn, a delegate of the arts connecting US and Cuban artists.

Herbie came to Bradenton from his beloved Jamaica. He is considered by many to be the founder of the Village of the Arts in Bradenton, opening his first gallery more than 30 years ago. Herbie’s vibrant, detailed, and colorful watercolor paintings are legendary. R.I.P. Herbie. Prints are from the collection of Herbie ‘ s daughter-in law, Ruth Beals.

Jeff is a Caribbean artist and Sarasota resident. His whimsical depictions of iconic island scenes combine color and nostalgia with a blend of caricature and humor that invoke snapshots of life.

An educator and professional artist specializing in Watercolor, Dwight’s intuitive translucent glaze technique is often recognizable. His career includes a signature member in excellence at the SC Watercolor Society.

Brenda comes from a family of women who learned to make something from nothing. She carries that custom forward in her practice, documenting and connecting common threads that run through us all.
