Host: This is Claudia Allers, bringing you the weekly Activist Calendar for Friday, July 21. The League of Women Voters of Manatee is offering a workshop for citizens to learn how to address elected officials with what is on your mind at the one hour Public Comment Training, live via Zoom, on Monday, July 24, from 4:30 to 5:30pm. The Zoom link can be found at lwvmanatee.org.

The Manatee County School Board meeting will be held on Tuesday, July 25, from 11am to 1pm. The public may attend in the boardroom at the school board’s administration building 215 Manatee Avenue West, Bradenton. Board meetings are also broadcast live on both MSTV and METV and are live streamed on the web. More information can be found at manateeschools.net.

The Newtown Community Health Action Team meeting will be held this Tuesday, July 25, from 2 to 3pm at the North County Library at 2801 Newtown Boulevard in Sarasota. For those interested, this ongoing conversation takes place the fourth Tuesday of each month.

The League of Women Voters of Sarasota will host the “Coffee, Conversation and Defending Democracy” meeting to discuss current activities and league plans related to petition gathering for the reproductive rights and clean water constitutional amendment initiatives for 2024. The league will except completed petitions for the two constitutional amendments and blank petition forms will be available.

This week’s meetings on reproductive rights will be held on Wednesday, July 26, from 9 to 10:30am in two separate locations. The North County meeting will be at Panera Bread, Lakewood Ranch, at 11505 State Road 70 East in Lakewood Ranch.

The South County meeting—also on Wednesday, July 26, from 9 to 10:30am—will be held at Rise & Nye’s Coffee Company at 1534 State Street in downtown Sarasota. More information about this event can be found at lwvsrq.org.
