ArtBeat with Kathleen Murray is a one-on-one interview program with artists, arts nonprofit workers, curators and art and design faculty. Guests will share the music that is getting their creative juices flowing and Murray will delve into big-picture conversation threaded through a social lens: Sarasota is known and touted by realtors and tourism officials as the “Cultural Coast” – the “city of arts and artists” but how do artists (especially young, emerging and/or artists of color) afford to live, work and stay mentally and physically healthy here and what (if anything) is being done about it? Kathleen Murray has a degree in journalism from Syracuse University, where she was on staff of The Daily Orange student newspaper. After college, she worked as a newspaper reporter, B-to-B magazine editor, television producer, digital news editor, and freelance writer. She worked was as an arts reporter for a daily newspaper and as director of communications of the nonprofit O+ ( — connects artists and musicians with health and wellness care ) for which I produced and hosted a weekly radio show called the O+ Radio Hour on Radio Kingston ( in NY). Murray is also on staff at WSLR as an Office Manager
