Little Satchmo chronicles the life of the late, great trumpet player and Black American music icon Louis Armstrong, told through the eyes of his one and only offspring. Sharon Preston-Folta is the product of Armstrong and his longtime mistress Lucille “Sweets” Preston, a vaudeville dancer from Harlem, New York. Preston-Folta is also the host of “TownTalk TampaBay” and “Radio Reset” on WSLR 96.5.
The documentary, narrated by Preston-Folta, is adapted from her 2012 memoir, Little Satchmo: Living In the Shadow Of My Father, Louis Daniel Armstrong. The book is available for purchase along with your ticket to the film.
The evening will include a short presentation by Truly Valued, the Little Satchmo documentary and a Q&A with Little Satchmo Team. Part of the proceeds from the event will benefit Truly Valued.
Food will be available from 6-7:30pm from Miss Susie’s Food Truck.
