A master of world building, of tension and release, Lauren Henderson transforms a song into a dreamlike incantation. She sings with a virtuosic warmth and interprets with intention. Since her arrival on the New York scene in 2009, the singer and bilingual songwriter has been enchanting audiences across the world.
 
Through every lyric, she transmits connection and wonder; through every album, personal discovery. Henderson’s music reflects a multidisciplinary artistry. Washed with bright, bold harmonies and ruminative syncopation, her repertoire features tender ballads, swinging arrangements, flamenco dance patterns, Afro-Caribbean influences, and heartfelt storytelling. In the softest phrase, she reveals a passion for the music and its message — in any language.
 
Recognized as one of “10 Jazz Artists Blending and Expanding The Sounds Of Latin America” by the Recording Academy. Lauren has recently been the cover artist of the Spotify Vocal Jazz Playlist, Lauren was featured in the Financial Times, breaking the Jazz Charts Top 5, and JazzWeek Radio Charts Top 40 for the Year.
 
Lauren’s music resonates with listeners around the world, captivating a broad audience of music aficionados. , In recent years, the prolific artist — with familial roots in Panama, Montserrat, and different regions of the Caribbean — has completed sold-out tours in Mexico, France, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Poland, South Africa, Germany, as well throughout the US.
 
Lauren studied with the late Barry Harris and has performed with stylistically diverse artists, including Sullivan Fortner, Sean Mason, Michael Thurber, Daniel J. Watts, Joe Saylor, Jon Batiste, Aaron Parks, Joanna Sternberg, Parson James, among many others.
 
Recording credits include collaborations with Joel Ross, Leo Sidran, Eric Wheeler, John Chin, Jon Lampley, Joe Dyson, Nick Tannura, Paco Soto, and Terri Lyne Carrington.
 
Lauren’s original music is featured in The Drowning, (starring Julia Stiles, Avan Jogia, Josh Charles and Tracie Thoms), El Juego de Las Llaves, (Ela Velden, Maite Perroni, and Marimar Vega), and Romeo y Julieta (starring Lupita Nyong’o and Juan Castano), scored by one of Lauren’s musical partners, Michael Thurber.
