Shankh and Friends – A Global Music Project

Shankh and Friends invites audiences into a transcendent musical journey where ancient traditions pulse vibrantly within today’s dynamic soundscapes. Their artistry unfolds as a living mosaic — woven with enigmatic harmonies, bold arrangements, and irresistible polyrhythms — simmering with global influences and an unmistakable touch of sonic alchemy.

At the heart of this ever-evolving collective is internationally touring musician Shankh Lahiri — a master of tabla and vocals, deeply rooted in the rich lineage of Indian classical music. With meditative ragas and dazzling taals, he bridges timeless tradition and contemporary expression, guiding audiences into a cross-cultural dialogue that feels both sacred and electrifying. Beyond the stage, he serves as CEO of the Shruti Foundation and as the visionary frontman of Wahh World Fusion Band, shaping music not only as an art form, but as a bridge between cultures and communities.

Joining him are Bobak, Bryan, and Cletus — artists whose distinct musical voices ignite the ensemble’s global conversation. Drawing from his Persian heritage, Bobak layers swirling guitar textures with evocative vocals. Bryan brings masterful jazz sophistication through expressive saxophone lines, while Cletus — steeped in the deep grooves of Jamaican rhythm — anchors the sound with soulful, resonant bass. Their shared foundations in jazz, R&B, rock, and contemporary genres seamlessly intertwine with Indian classical traditions, creating performances that are immersive, dynamic, and profoundly moving.

Adding to the magic, Shankh and Friends welcomes a rotating constellation of guest artists, ensuring no two performances are ever alike. Through spontaneous improvisation, fearless collaboration, and joyful cultural exchange, the music remains in constant motion — a living, breathing celebration of global unity through sound.
