Peace & Justice Weds Aug 16 – 9 a.m. – Sarasota Sustainability and Celery Fields

Written by on Saturday, August 12, 2017

This Wednesday, August 16, we’ll talk to Stevie Freeman-Montes, the Sustainability Manager for the City of Sarasota.  Sarasota has a progressive sustainability program with environmental issues consistently ranked as a top community priority. As the Sustainability Manager, she works to plan and implement programs and policies that reduce negative environmental impacts from city operations, community planning, and municipal investments.

In the second half of our show, we’ll talk to Tom Matrullo about the upcoming August 23 all-day hearing by the County Commission on the sale of land near the Celery Fields .  The land, if sold, would be used for a waste recycling center. Check here and here for more information.

Citizens for Sarasota County (CSC) is a new coalition to promote ethical, responsive government that preserves and enhances Sarasota’s unique natural environment and cultural heritage while building a sound local economy based on effective stewardship and innovation.
