Peace & Justice Jan. 30 – Healthy Start Sarasota and Dale Anderson on fascism

Written by on Wednesday, January 30, 2019

Today we had Ryan Stanley talking about an important event coming this Thursday. She writes

“The event I’m promoting is called An Evening for Healthy Start. All the proceeds of this super fun event — at Sarasota Architectural Salvage on Thursday at 6:30pm — go directly to The Healthy Start Coalition of Sarasota County. In addition to pregnancy Medicaid case management, Healthy Start offers wrap around programs to help pregnant mothers access pregnancy and postpartum yoga classes, lactation support, psychosocial counseling, Safe Sleep packages, smoking cessation classes, diapers, and more for free. Healthy Start’s services are “risk based” which means that income and other means of support are not a barrier to services. Women can be referred by their care provider via survey or they can self refer by calling Healthy Start directly. Every single penny earned at this event – from door tickets to raffle tickets to bar tips to silent auction bids – goes immediately to Sarasota’s pregnant women, infants, and young children. This is our 10th year putting on this event and I have helped organize the Silent Auction and Raffle for 7 of those 10 years and I’m also a former Healthy Start client (2014/15).

After Ryan, Dr. Dale P. Anderson talked about how to combat fascism, recapping his lecture at Fogartyville January 29. You can view it HERE thanks to Doreen Dupont.
