Written by on Sunday, May 17, 2020

This Wednesday, May 20, at 9am our first guest was Carl Dix, of the Stop Mass Incarceration Network. We talked about racial violence in America. Carl recommended the website revcom.us. He also suggested checking out the YouTube channel The RNL Show – Revolution, Nothing Less!

We also heard interviews by WSLR News Producer Becca Hadwin showing local reactions to the shooting of Ahmaud Arbery.

On the second half of the show our guest was Harvey J. Kaye, talking about his new book FDR on Democracy: The Greatest Speeches and Writings of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt.

In his Commonwealth Club speech of 1932, FDR called for a new “economic declaration of rights”; in his 1941 Annual Message to Congress, he pronounced the “four freedoms” to be “Freedom of Speech and Expression, Freedom of Worship, Freedom from Want, Freedom from Fear”; and in his 1944 State of the Union address, he projected the enactment of a second Bill of Rights, an Economic Bill of Rights for all Americans.”

As usual, you can find our past shows at archive.wslr.org.
