Sebastian Martinez will be our guest on Peace & Justice this Wednesday October 18 at 9am. He’s a 2021 graduate of Booker High School, has been involved in youth organizing since he was 15 years old. He founded a local youth organization, the Sarasota Youth Association (SYA), but after attending college, he decided to grow SYA’s infrastructure, transforming it into a national organization, the American Youth Association. Sebastian is particularly passionate about issues related to public education, Hispanic issues, voting rights, and LGBTQIA+ rights. Sebastian will share with us what he is doing, his insights, and how we can help him organize this very important group.

Then we’ll host Justice Matters. On this month’s show, Legal Aid of Manasota CEO Linda Harradine and 12th Judicial Circuit Public Defender Larry Eger will be joined by Forest Sutton, Assistant State Attorney for the 12th Judicial Circuit and Director for the Young Lawyers Division of the Sarasota County Bar, and the Hon. Charles Williams, 12th Judicial Circuit Court Judge. Forest and Judge Williams will discuss the importance of pro bono work and the need for skilled legal advice to assist with civil legal problems, and the pro bono events taking place this month throughout our region.
