REVIEW: Exceptional Recording
Great to hear a quality recording of the best show I ever attended !!!

These reviews are from some of the other recordings in the Archive:
REVIEW: All jazzed-up
We drove from Racine Wisconsin and where the first people to arrive at the Starlight theater parkinglot. We
met a law student from Stanford who had a nice car audio system and we had the Frost 82 tapes playing
through it mid afternoon, he gave us a Lewiston 80 tape. I was blue Gelled as well. Parking lot scene was super
mellow and some folks where giving out hugs before the show.It was a clear blue sky day Bobby came out with
a purple t-shirt that seemed too big for him,We had 8th row on jer’s side. The ‘Eyes’ was incredible. There’s a
small lake there surrounded by trees and rocky cliffs that we found to hang out and we met some heads who
lost there shoes and needed ours to buy food in a store. It was a few hours before show time and a peace loving
hippy walked towards our car and I asked him what time is was..he said ‘Who Cares’his words came on like a
roaring semi on a highway..we where way out there……..This show is probably the most unique of 1985.barely
a 4 for quality but almost a five for playing. The Other One,Space,Stranger,Theylove and Eyes are
amazing..and Cryptical is here too

REVIEW: Interesting ’85 show
I used to love this tape. Listening now, I think the charm was the unusual song choices – 85 was pretty
interesting that way. In retrospect, the revival of Cryptical may have not been a total success (there’s a reason
they re-retired it!).
The first set is decent but nothing earth-shaking( Strong FLAS to kick off the set though). The second set
features an excellent Eyes (I love it at this tempo – not too fast, not too slow) as well as very cool post drums
run of Nobody’s Fault->Truckin’ ->Smokestack->Comes A Time. Beautiful Baby Blue as the encore as well.
All in all this show’s good listen especially if you’re a fan of ’85 shows.
Thanks for posting this nice, crisp copy – sounds a lot better than my old tape!

REVIEW: Interesting Show
I was there, and enroute to Red Rocks….the second set statrted out very hot with The Other One, but tension
got high when Brent did “I Don’t Need Love Anymore” when Jerry was looking for drums…so Jerry walked off
during the song. When space was over Jerry must have felt bad for his part in the tension (after all Brent was
going throught some tough times on the home front) and came out of space into a rare It’s Nobody’s Fault But
Mine”. A very hot Comes a Time put the cherry on top.

REVIEW: Smokin!
Hot diggety dog that Stranger is Hot! I’m not even past that and I had to write a comment. I saw this show and
have listened to the old cassette tape many times but not for years. It’s great to hear it again.

REVIEW: Good Times, Good Times
Great show. Lots of energy and a hot recording. The last Cryptical, I think — if not, it’s definately the last of the
’85 resurrection.

REVIEW: 1985 Rules!!
Typical first set for this year. The second set is the complete opposite!! It absolutely smokes. I have read people
saying that the (6/16 Greek) Cryptical > Other 1 > Cryptical is the best but I beg to differ! This Starlight
version (that opens up the second set!!) is the tightest and hottest. Nice Eyes and Nobody’s Fault as well.
Comes A Time is always a treat. Can’t say enough cool things about 1985!!

REVIEW: stars and stripes
solid, sears and roebuck ’85. the entire backdrop was one huge american flag. labor day in the u.s.a.!!! mighty
fine.

REVIEW: purple gel
cool late summer swing from oklahoma to kc to the rocks. have to admit it’s easy to have this superb venue
impact the review. i was in the pit and although i agree cryptical was way ragged, the other one out of it
positively floored me and i’ve yet to recover. nobody’s fault but mine revived an old tune the dead had visited
back in the early 70’s maybe. the purple gels were real fine and somehow i made it to morrison. anyway, the
show was just ok but if you were actually there you probably recall this affair fondly.

REVIEW: All about the Love
A competent 80’s show. Nothing awful and a few moments of magic. Bobby lovelight rap reminds how
incredible Pig was. Brent don’t need love anymore so Jerry points out there comes a time followed by the
Lovelight. Maybe they were trying to tell Brent something. A sweet Baby Blue for those not going on to the
Rocks and points West.

REVIEW: Storyline
I was convinced at the time that when Brent and Bobby did ‘Don’t Need You’, that they were directing their ire
at Garcia who had left the stage rather abruptly right in the middle of the Eyes jam.
When Garcia came ot after drums and broke into “Nobody’s Fault But Mine”, I was sure that he was in fact
apologizing.

You get the picture…
