Host: Hi everyone. This is Ryan Stanley with your Activist Calendar.

The Florida Environmental Film Festival is an online film festival showcasing films from local and international filmmakers, all addressing environmental issues that can impact Florida and the rest of the world. Films are all available from August 11 through August 20, and for a full lineup, you can go to thefeff.org and click the “Events” tab.

Florida Veterans For Common Sense host their next monthly meeting on Monday, August 14. Desmond Meade will speak on voter suppression and protecting democracy. Formerly homeless, Mr. Meade is a Florida Veterans For Common Sense Thomas Paine award winner and president of Florida Rights Restoration Coalition.

Florida Veterans For Common Sense monthly meetings take place on the second Monday of each month at Unity of Sarasota, 3023 Proctor Road at 7pm. These meetings can also be attended online. For more information, you can visit Florida Veterans For Common Sense at floridaveteransforcommonsense.org.

A few more meetings to pencil in for the upcoming weeks: The Sarasota County School Board meets on Tuesday, August 15 at 3pm. The Sarasota Memorial Hospital Board meets on August 21 at 2. The Sarasota County Commission meets on August 22 at 9am, and the Manatee County School Board meets on August 22 at 11am.
