WSLR+Fogartyville General Manager Jesse Coleman was a seasoned leader in the natural foods industry, working for a decade at Whole Foods Market and managing Blumenberry Organic Farm. He has championed mission-driven initiatives that prioritize sustainability, community well-being, and holistic approaches to health. With a deep commitment to making a positive impact, Jesse has successfully managed complex projects that align with his values, ensuring that operations not only meet but exceed standards for quality, innovation, and environmental responsibility. His passion for creating meaningful change has been a constant thread throughout his career, which now guides his work as General Manager and Executive Director of WSLR+Fogartyville.
Growing up in the Sarasota and Bradenton area, Jesse was deeply influenced by the power of community radio, regularly tuning in to Tampa’s community radio WMNF 88.5 FM. The station’s diverse viewpoints and eclectic, outside-the-mainstream approach inspired him and fostered his appreciation for independent media. When WSLR was founded in 2005, Jesse was immediately drawn to its hyper-local focus, excited about a station that resonated even more with his community-oriented values. As a musician, he performed at the original Fogartyville Cafe, founded by Dave Beaton and Arlene Sweeting, and his band, Cassolette, gained early exposure on WSLR and at Fogartyville—experiences that deepened his connection to the community and the arts.
In his current role, Jesse combines his leadership experience, project management skills, and artistic background to advance WSLR+Fogartyville’s mission of providing community-focused programming and cultural events. His proactive approach and strategic thinking have been instrumental in fostering a vibrant, inclusive environment that engages the local community. Jesse remains dedicated to ensuring that WSLR+Fogartyville continues to thrive as a vital resource and voice for Sarasota.
