“Yesterday’s Dead Today”, Monday, March 1st, 7-9pm Eastern

Written by on Sunday, February 28, 2021

“It is said that, if you lined up all those who have ever been to a Grateful Dead concert head-to-toe, the line would stretch around the moon, and about halfway back. And nobody would complain!”

Grateful Dead
Family Dog at the Great Highway, San Francisco, CA
March 1, 1970
SBD MR > C > D > CD
patched with AUD:
3rd gen cassette > CD > SoundForge (5% speed correction/amplify) > CD

The first two tunes, and into the beginning of the third, are patched with a
decent aud. After that, the soundboard is clear as a bell!

Reviews from this recording:
REVIEW: Big boy Pete!!!
Fun, fun, fun show. INTENSE Cryptical-Other one. Lovely Good Lovin’-drums
Nice quality after first two tracks and before last two tracks

REVIEW: Unfucking real
Maybe the best show I’ve ever heard other then the Sportitorium in May 77

REVIEW: Maybe my favorite Dire Wolf,
if that even matters…but yes, the vocals are a bit over the rest of the mix, and
yes, it needs some EQing, but it’s a very clear recording of a sweet show.
Dancin’, and all the other tracks from the lower-quality source (there are two
sources) are superb enough to merit the highest mark regardless. Baby Blue
sounds like what the Dead were later to become as musical giants of the
20th Century, though they played that song differently from this in the 80s &
90s.

Reviews from other recordings:
REVIEW: nice
This sounds great and I didn’t really mind the cuts. They’re all very brief.
Performance-wise this is an ok night, nothing amazing. There’s a bunch of
feedback during The Other One that I think caused the band to have to turn
it down a notch. The rest of the show is kind of mellow as a result. Good
Lovin’ is pretty good. It doesn’t rock as hard as usual but the jam is kind of
interesting. Cumberland is probably the best performance of the night.
Pigpen is right on the money on King Bee. On Uncle John’s they experiment
with playing it really down-tempo. I’m glad they didn’t stick with this pace
after this night because it feels way too slow.

REVIEW: Worthwhile
Sound is outstanding especially minus the poor quality stuff.
(That Speedway audio was terrible/ this source best bet)
The Big Boy Pete is a blast! Peaches and cream. Cumberland Blues!
high cotton…

REVIEW: the sound of tripping
We can argue whether the band peaked in ’69 or ’72, or anywhere in
between, but this show is the real deal. I haven’t tripped in years (decades),
but the reprise of Cryptical reminds me of it.

REVIEW: I Thought I Heard…..
Is It The Ringing In My Ears Or Is There A Banjo And Possibly A Mandolin
In Uncle John’s Band ?

This is the complete show as per Deadlists.
