Architecture, Assault Guns, and Fair Food – Wednesday at 9 a.m. on Peace & Justice

We’ll help kick off the WSLR FALL MEMBERSHIP DRIVE this Wednesday morning October 17 at 9 a.m.. When you call 941-954-8636  – and we hope  you will – be sure to mention Peace & Justice on your pledge!

Our first guest will be Christopher Wilson, PhD, Chairman of the Sarasota Architectural Foundation. He’ll be talking about their celebration of the 100th anniversary of Paul Rudolph, a famous architect and part of the Sarasota School of Architecture.

Following that we’ll talk to Kyleanne Hunter about her experience in the Marines and the widespread ownership of assault weapons. Kyleanne is the current Vice President for Programs for the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence. She is a Marine Corps Combat veteran with multiple tours in Iraq and Afghanistan as an AH-1W “Super Cobra” pilot. She also served as the Marines’ legislative liaison officer to the House of Representatives from 2009-2012. Kyleanne is also an adjunct professor at Georgetown University’s National Security Studies program. In addition she is currently a PhD Candidate at the Josef Korbel School of International Studies, University of Denver and Peace Researcher at the Joan B. Kroc School of International Peace and Justice at University of San Diego’s Women Peacemaker Program.

Finally we’ll talk to Alex Schelle, Faith Network Co-Coordinatorof the Alliance for Fair Food.  During October 22-28 there will actions in several cities about their boycott of Wendy’s.
