As our country grieves the victims of gun violence in Buffalo, New York, and with the 2022 elections approaching, we ask individuals running for office to commit to reducing gun violence, to pledge to do all they can to keep firearms out of the wrong hands, and to encourage responsible gun ownership to help keep our children safe.
Every day, more than 110 Americans are killed by gun violence. In the US, on average, nearly 16,000-gun homicides occur every year.
On June 3, 4 and 5 2022, people across the United States will recognize National Gun Violence Awareness Day and wear Orange in tribute to victims of gun violence, a tradition that begun with another senseless gun violence act: the killing of Hadiya Pendleton on January 2013.
We support the efforts of the local chapter of Moms Demand Action to raise awareness about gun violence and enact public safety measures. Show your support by wearing Orange on the first weekend in June.
