From WSLR 96.5 LP-FM, this is the Critical Times. I’m Giulia Heyward. For the next half hour, we’ll be reporting on local politics and grassroots activism all happening in your backyard. The General Election will take place on Nov. 6th. We’ll be continuing in our series of comprehensive election coverage to keep you all as informed as possible. Today, we’re discussing the local charter amendments. Local activist, Cramer Verde, is here to speak on the amendment to change the election date of city commissioners and the hidden supporters of development that may be actually seeking to suppress the vote. The Friends of the Legacy Trail, Andrea Seager and Rita Miotti, are here to discuss the amendment to extend the legacy trail. Kindra Muntz of the Sarasota Alliance of Fair Elections is here to discuss amendments seeking to affect how petitions and local initiatives find themselves on ballots. We also have Lilyanne Rodriguez and Miranda Day of Next Generation discussing youth voter turnout. First, we have Dennis Maley from the Bradenton Times with the Manatee News Update. It’s all coming up very soon!
