Buried under a pile of hurricane updates, debate news, and the President using a Sharpie to justify his latest ( but not last) flight of fantasy was a story that should concern all Americans. Republican Matthew Petersen resigned from the Federal Election Commission (FEC) leaving that regulatory body one short of the quorum. The lack of a quorum renders the FEC impotent. It cannot enforce any of the election rules in the upcoming 2020 elections. Craig Holman (above), a Government Affairs Lobbyist for Public Citizen will join Steve and Lew to discuss, and amplify, the importance of this development in regard to the fairness of our election. The FEC with no power to enforce election law is like a highway with no police patrols — one can post speed limit signs every ten feet but essentially drivers can go as fast as they want.
