This Week in Local Government

Written by on Sunday, August 18, 2024

On Tuesday, it’s election day, with seats up on all local levels. On Monday, Sarasota City Commissioners will discuss selling city-owned land on MLK Way to an African American non-profit to build a cultural center, a multimodal transportation impact fee, and abandoning a downtown street for a private development. They are also expected to approve spending $7 million to buy land across from city hall to build workforce housing – the retiring city manager’s hallmark project.
