This Wednesday, April 3 at 9 a.m. we’ll have in the studio representatives of the two film festivals starting soon in Sarasota!

Through Women’s Eyes (TWE), starts Saturday, April 6 at the Regal Hollywood 11 and is celebrating its 20th year of offering films directed by or produced by women. TWE is sponsored by the Gulf Coat Chapter of the United Nations National Committee for UN Women. All proceeds go to supporting women and communities around the world, helping to end violence against women, promote social and economic independence, gender equality and ‘safe cities’, microloans, and many other initiatives. Gulf Coast chapter President and Festival Chair E. Scott Osborne will talk about the films to be shown and how they were selected.

Then SFF Programming Manager Harrison Bender will talk about the 21st annual Sarasota Film Festival. SFF starts Friday night, April 5, at the Sarasota Municipal Auditorium with the film Mike Wallace is Here. The festival continues through April 14 at the Regal Hollywood 11 and several other venues. There are over 200 films to choose from, half of them documentaries, and over 1500 films were considered! Tickets for SFF and TWE are being sold now online or in the Hollywood 11 lobby. WSLR is a SFF media sponsor.
