“There Is NOTHING like a Grateful Dead concert!”

Grateful Dead
Greek Theatre, University of California, Berkeley, CA

Soundboard master cassette > DAT > CDR > CDR > EAC > SHN
Thanks to Kevin Gills and Mark Perini for making these great soundboards of the 1982 Greek run available.
EAC, SHN extraction and etree seeding done by Gerald Gorinsky

From The Taping Compendium review:
“This is one of those classic three-show stands at the Dead home field. You get the spacy show(5/211), the blues
show(5/22) and the rock show(5/23)…All three are scorchers and, taken together, provide a snapshot of ‘82
vintage Dead at their finest”

REVIEW: Just solid
Been a favorite for years. Just a nice, SOLID 82. Bertha-Greatest- Oh my PHILNESS!!

REVIEW: Insane clarity of Sound.
I love the sound of this show. one of the best sound quality shows. Reminds me of the Dec. 79′ Dick’s pick. A
really nice show from the last great year (…1982!) the Dead were truly “Just exactly perfect!”

REVIEW: not as good as 5-22
These Greek shows are always good to listen to. The boys are usually having a good time and (atleast trying to)
playing there best. Unfortunatly this show lacks the energy and superb setlist that the next nite gave. Highlights
include this early Bertha>Greatest combo which Is interesting to compare to later 80s versions which seem
tighter, but this version still sees the boys in great vocal form. But again, next nite is better.

REVIEW: Playin>Uncle Johns
got this cassette sometime in 1983…this playin>uncle johns is the best ever played by far!! I challenge anyone to
find a better one. Love the rest of the show as well….

REVIEW: Perfect show for Judgment Day!
No need for the Rapture – just groove to the amazing second set of this show. The Playin>UJB is one of my
favorite pieces of music by any band. The band’s creativity is stunning. The transition into UJB is a great
example of the triumphant, celebratory feeling the Dead created whenever they were “on”.

REVIEW: Greek 82
This is great run at the Greek and the 3 shows together are an excellent representation of the early Brent era. Of
the 3 shows, the 22nd is my favourite. This show is a great listen too with my highlight being the second set
Playin’>UJB and the Playin reprise>Black Peter.

REVIEW: A+ all the way through
Start to finish, nice concert. Especially like Sugar Magnolia for some reason, just lots of energy.

REVIEW: Great Charm
The second set of this show has a charm all its own. Short, but nothing wasted. Plenty of great jams to keep you
entertained, and nothing too heady or otherworldly. The band is clearly happy to be playing this one, and it
translates.
