“Yesterday’s Dead Today”, Monday, April 27th, 7-9pm Eastern

Written by on Sunday, April 26, 2020

“It is said that, if you lined up all those who have ever been to a Grateful Dead concert head-to-toe, the line would stretch around the moon, and about halfway back. And nobody would complain!”

A rebroadcast of my show from last year. My stint in the WSLR Spring Membership Drive, featuring
then-in-studio guests “Experimental Farm Road”. And, if you missed either my show last year or our 2019
“Very Merry Jerry Day”, here’s your chance to hear them again!

And, while we all agree that things financially are very much in fluctuation, we would appreciate your
supporting WSLR+Fogartyville during this year’s “Giving Partner Challenge”!

Grateful Dead
Musikhalle, Hamburg, Germany
April 29, 1972 WGER FM

Since today, April 27th, is my stint during WSLR’s Spring ‘20 On-Air Membership Drive, I will only be able to
feature a few of this date. However, I am stoked that I will be joined in studio by “Experimental Farm Road”,
for the furst hour.

This particular recording, a superb FM broadcast, does not reside in the Internet Archive. I have no recording
information on it other than I found it around 2013.

While one of my rules is that I can’t broadcast anything that has been commercially released(for example, all of
Europe ‘72), I can certainly broadcast either an audience recording, or, in this case, an FM…

REVIEW: Thank you Matty V
Listen to this music, beyond words, beyond the confines of the music hall in Hamburg, this is one for the ages.
The Dark Star is well received, and reaches maximum tiger velocity before crashing into Sugar Mags, similar to
Copenhagen but far more intense. And Caution! right out of SSDD, are you kidding me ? When Phil is on….you
know the rest.

REVIEW: a five star star…
a really boss ’72 star here for yr taking(I can’t think of many that are’nt)… they drive deep into the core of the
universe on this one, and everthing just comes together so perfectly it’s astonishing. the transition into sugar
magnolia is pretty “what the fuck?” moment that only could come from the dead… they’re knee deep in a
freakout and bobby starts strumming those chords out of nowhere… classic. the caution is a chooglin’ monster
that will just steamroll yr brain into a piece of shit. an easy five stars for performance.

REVIEW: Great Dark Star
I love those way out Dark stars that gave the band the chance to plumb the depths of reality or spaceality. THis
one does that with flying colors and then launches into a refreshing and rejuvenating Sugar Mags with the the
caution train chuggalin on down the tracks into who do you love. Everyone is one, but ohhhhhhh listen to Phil
in caution.

REVIEW: lets face it…..
every dark star on the europe tour was amazing, especially this one. every one is long and spacey and filled with
all kinds of twists and turns. another fav of mine is 4/17/72 at tivoli koncertsal

REVIEW: Trippy Man
I would of loved to of been trippin’ and at this show… WOW !!!!
