In the meantime, the city commission urges activists to find alternatives.

On Tuesday, the Manatee County Commission will vote on extending the free-fare bus program, and discuss expanding the Emerson Point natural preserve. On Thursday, the Manatee County Planning Commission will discuss more rezones of agricultural land to planned development in Palmetto and Parrish, and construction of 320 multifamily units in Parrish.

Most public commenters object to the application.

The vote comes shortly after the company announced layoffs.

On Tuesday, the Sarasota School Board will discuss a for-profit charter school application, and the North Port City Commission will discuss the future of  Warm Mineral Springs. On Thursday, the Sarasota County Planning Commission will weigh a rezone request to turn Sarasota Square Mall into a mixed-use development.
