Part-Time WSLR News Digital Production Assistant

Job Summary
As the WSLR News Digital Production Assistant, you will play a key role in the digital distribution of WSLR News content and support the production of our weekly email newsletter. You will ensure that our radio news are effectively edited, published, and accessible across platforms, maintaining the highest standards of quality and accuracy. Working closely with the News and Public Affairs Director and Communications Director, you will contribute to the mission of Sarasota’s community radio station by extending its reach and impact. This position requires availability on Wednesday and Friday evenings and approximately 10 hours per week. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled. Responsibilities
- Audio Editing & Distribution: Edit audio files and upload them to podcasting platforms, ensuring professional quality.
- Transcription: Use AI transcription tools to create accurate transcripts of audio content, editing as necessary for clarity and accuracy.
- Digital Publishing: Manage blog and article posts on WordPress website, embedding multimedia with basic HTML as needed.
- Newsletter Production: Collaborate with the Communications Director to produce and distribute the weekly email newsletter via Robly.
- Social Media Support: Assist with creating and scheduling posts to promote WSLR News content.
- Meetings & Collaboration: Attend weekly news meetings (10 am every Monday, via Zoom) and work closely with the News and Public Affairs Director and Communications Director.
- Technical Tasks: Troubleshoot basic HTML and website-related issues as needed.
- Communication: Maintain timely and responsive communication with team members about project updates and deadlines.
Desired Qualifications
- Familiarity with the mission and values of community radio, especially WSLR or similar organizations.
- Proficiency in WordPress, including creating posts, embedding multimedia, and troubleshooting basic issues.
- Experience with audio editing software (e.g., Audacity, Adobe Audition, or similar).
- Knowledge of or ability to learn AI transcription tools and ability to edit transcriptions for quality.
- Familiarity with email marketing platforms, particularly Robly.
- Basic proficiency in HTML and multimedia embedding.
- Strong writing and editing skills for blogs, newsletters, and social media.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Experience in journalism, communications, or digital media is a plus.
Compensation
Starting $15/hour
