“It is said that, if you lined up all those who have ever been to a Grateful Dead concert head-to-toe, the line would stretch around the moon, and about halfway back. And nobody would complain!”
Due to the virus, WSLR is temporarily closed to live programmers, so until things start to return to normal, I will be featuring a show(in order), from last year’s broadcasts:

REVIEW: What the hell
I’ve completely lost track of what(recent) version of this show I had or didn’t have or isn’t available anymore or
what. I can say that this a very fine, very long show, that has been excruciatingly well patched, Here Comes
Sunshine in particular. The harmonies in Row Jimmy are actually pretty good, and I hate Row Jimmy. However,
one of the most blistering GSET is again butchered by DJG. She outdoes herself on this one, and I should’ve
made peace with it by now, but…what’s the use? Don’t be fooled by the song list for the 3rd set. This set has
wings. Really! Surely one of the best shows from 1973. I prefer this one to Kezar. 5 stars.
REVIEW: Much better than Kezar
Much better than Kezar, at least playingwise. Jerry has an audible cold, but I think he amped up his
guitartechnics because of it.
REVIEW: Gem!!!
What a hidden gem, I can’t believe this show isn’t d/l more. Just as good as 5-26-73, if not better, and I think this
one smokes 2-9-73. The Truckin->Other One->Eyes->Stella Blue->Sugar Magnolia is spectacular. However,
the entire show is well played. The boys were on,on,on and will take you to where you need to go.
REVIEW: that was a day
I believe this was a daytime concert in the UCSB stadium. It was beautiful weather and hot, we got way too
wasted and I don’t remember driving 100 miles back to San Luis Obispo. But the band was hot too, cold or not.
REVIEW: good good stuff
this show has a lot in common with Kezar, Six days later, no suprise, in many ways it is the dress rehersal,
.More importantly Jerry’s voice sounds a little strained, (not in the 1980’s struglin ways) but rather in a sweet
youthful, 1969 sound. The Eyes and the Sunshine and Jimmy Row are clear winners this night as a result. wish I
was there
REVIEW: Great Show
Great sound quality! 73′ is one of my favorite years of Dead and I’ve never been a big fan of Me & My Uncle,
but this one is inspiring.
REVIEW: Really love the last 2 mins of China Cat
That is just some fun play between them.
REVIEW: hot spring
this sleeper is well played and puts 5/26’s 1st and 2nd sets to shame. just listen to the killer versions of playin,
china>rider, gset, and hcs if you don’t believe me. wow, could this give 6/22 a run for its money?? na, lets not
get all crazy here…
REVIEW: More to love from ’73
A five star experience from one of my favourite years for the Dead. Superb Playin’ despite Donna’s shrieking
(Family in the next room asked “what is that awful noise??” while I was listening). She definitely redeems
herself on an absolutely gorgeous Row Jimmy. Really nice Eyes as well.
REVIEW: A hefty, lovin’ dose of Dead
I have to agree with many of the reviewers below, this show is terrific. Love the quality of the mix and the
performance is no short of stellar as well. Eyes and LLR are the runaway highlights for me.
*Patch source: MAC (Sony condensor microphone > Sony mono cassette recorder (possibly a TC-3), on BASF
cassettes) > reel (Sony TC-366, 3 3/4ips single-track) > cassette (Denon 3-head cassette deck) > DAT > CD
Thank you to the good doctor for the soundboard source tape.
Specials thanks to Noah for the patches. A recording even two confirmed aud-i-hos can love!
