I’ve seen thousands of reviews over the years, but this actually explains “A Deadhead”…
“REVIEW: stella
As a new fan of the Dead it was years before I realized the importance of the tears streaming down
the face of the girl beside me. She seemed to be having a religious experience. Now I know why”

REVIEW: The Bird Song is worth the price of admission
There was some weird weather that night in the desert, but Jerry was pretty tired that
night. The show is overall pretty slow with one notable exception– an OUTSTANDING
Bird Song that’s driven by Phil through the middle section from 5:0)-7:00 or so. It felt like
Phil was trying to rescue what he knew was a lackluster 6-song first set. Second set
Playing sandwich is the only other real jamming of note, but Jerry sticking Crazy Fingers
in the meat of the second set really tanks the energy. Between Crazy Fingers, Drumz and
Days Between, you’ve got a solid 30 minutes+ of really slow paced music. At least the
LSD encore sent people home reasonably happy.
REVIEW: –
Excellently played, & an improvement over last night.
REVIEW: wish you were there
best day of my life. you can really tell the guyz are excited about improv on this day.
They push the envelope on Bird Song and Playin’. Nice mellow drums as well. As good
as I remember it.
REVIEW: Great pre-drums
Very hot first half of second set. The performance falters after drums, esp. a disjointed
Watchtower, but the HCS, Playing>Crazy>Playing is great.
REVIEW: No so tasty
This show was my first real let down, it just wasn’t there. I drove 17 hours from Portland
to get there. My Bro feel asleep during drums and woke with the Bowl completely
deserted. The Lucy was the only fun I had.
REVIEW: BIRD SONG!!!
Whatever people think about sound problems from certain parts of the venue, or
comparatively less than stellar jamming on certain tunes, or simply poor song
selection…it is indisputable that this Bird Song is one of the more adventurous takes on a
great song that the boys have played in the Nineties, including the Branford Eyeses…It is
not smooth like those Branford Eyeses, but it is psychedelic and schizophrenic and
surprisingly fun on every listen…
REVIEW: great show magical times
bottom feeder was right on. It was such an amazing show and when the sky cleared for
the 2nd set there was a broken rainbow for quite a while up in the sky. I still have the
pictures to prove it.That night I turned 21 at midnight and went to play blackjack all night
with deadheads drinking heineken. I won $160.
REVIEW: rookies
you people have no idea of good dead shows…I think sting opened here….sorry if Im
wrong….lighting storm ahead….jerry on it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 97 dead shows under my belt and
you rookies are hard to understand…
REVIEW: yes sting opened
it was great! i was there! enjoyed every minite of it! listen….it aint the best thats for sure,
but if you were there it wasnt bad either. i got a soundboard tape that show sounds
magnificent. iwill keep my personal experiences to my self at this show but it did sound
much better there rather than tape. kept thinking bob was on slide and jerry on peddle
steel. most fun i ever had a show. 16 shows total and all of the vegas show run.good times……..
REVIEW: Mixed bag…
I remember the second set was pretty A-OK as I recall. The Here Comes Sunshine 2nd set
start and a Lucy In the Sky were much hoped for and seemed pretty cool, on this day in
May of 1993. 92-93, also Bobby had that heavy, chunky effect coming from his guitar
during these years. More reverb and sustain–it seemed like a tug of war of sound between
him and Vince for a time during this era back behind ol’ Jerry. years. The real fun starts
mid-way through Bird Song……
