Missed it? It’s in the archives: go to archive.wslr.org.  Then just search for “Peace” and pick the right date. Check out some of the other past show topics here. Tom will be on vacation until June 25.

This Wednesday May 17 we talked to Charles Reith about the progress he and his volunteers have made in planting microforests in the Sarasota/Bradenton area. Sarasota Urban ReForesters is composed of Florida Veterans for Common Sense Fund, Rotary Club of Sarasota Bay, and Solutions to Avoid Red Tide. For the microforest project at Nathan Benderson Park, SURF has partnered with the Suncoast Science Center and Suncoast Aquatic Nature Center Associates (SANCA). Read more about urban forests HERE

Then, since it’s the third Wednesday of the month, we heard from Legal Aid of Manasota and their program Justice Matters. This month their guest was Erin Minor, CEO of Harvest House, which provides affordable housing and addiction recovery services and food security to those who need them. They talked about the civil and criminal legal issues faced by Harvest House clients that involve housing, healthcare and barriers to employment.
