WSLR News presented the 2024 Public Newsroom Series forums featuring journalists, academics, attorneys, and subject experts. The series sought to  build our local news ecosystem and investigate ways for community members to strengthen our democracy by participating in news production themselves.

This Week in Local Government

In a joint meeting Friday, Sarasota county and city commissioners will discuss stormwater management, transit, parks, and Amendment 3. On Wednesday, city planners will hold pre-application conferences for the African American Cultural & Arts Center and for a workforce housing complex at Payne Park.

This Wednesday at 9am on Peace & Justice, Tom will interview two leaders of the Sarasota chapter of Friendship Force, a worldwide network of over 250 clubs who believe that a more peaceful world comes from connecting people and visiting across borders and cultures.
