Planned Parenthood will now be providing Hormone Replacement Therapy for transgender youth.
The organization has been providing Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) since October of 2016, but up until now it was for those 18 and older. Planned parenthood officials say that transgender patients have a difficult time accessing care because a lot of doctors can be judgmental. Now, they will be offering the services to those 18 or under after a consultation and with parental permission.
We spoke to Anna Eskamani, Senior Director of Public Affairs & Communications for Planned Parenthood of Southwest Florida about this step.
