This Wednesday our guest will be Col. Don Christensen (USAF, ret.). Col. Christensen is the President of Protect Our Defenders.
Protect Our Defenders (POD) is a national human rights organization dedicated to ending sexual violence, victim retaliation, misogyny, sexual prejudice, and racism in the military and combating a culture that has allowed it to persist.
We honor, support, and give voice to survivors of military sexual violence. We seek reform to ensure all service members are provided a safe and respectful work environment free from misogyny and racism, and have access to a fair, impartially administered system of justice.
We’ll talk with Col. Christensen about the over 20,500 service members – men and women – sexually assaulted each year. Most crimes go unreported and the victims who do report them fear retaliation. And there’s a new push in Congress by U. S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand to remove the charging decisions from the chain of command. Protect Our Defenders frequently provides pro bono legal representation to victims.
