Then, since this is the third Wednesday of the month, we had this month’s installment of Justice Matters with Legal Aid of Manasota CEO Linda Harradine and 12th Judicial Circuit Public Defender Larry Eger. They were joined by 12th Judicial County Court Judge Erika Quartermaine and Megan Howell, CEO of Second Heart Homes. Judge Quartermaine and Megan discussed Second Heart Homes’ program, which provides support and housing for the mentally ill homeless population in our area, as well as the positive impacts of the 12th Judicial Circuit’s Comprehensive Treatment Court, which processes criminal defendants to appropriately address the severity of the identified mental illness through treatment services tailored to the individual needs of the participant.
