Unitarian Universalism then Banned Books on Peace & Justice, this Wednesday at 9am.

Written by on Monday, May 1, 2023

This Wednesday, May 3 at 9am we’ll first talk to Jay Wolin, minister at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Sarasota. We’ll talk about reproductive justice, laws restricting DEI and teaching African American history, the “Don’t Say Gay” bill, and New College. He has taken Thich Nhat Hanh’s Five Mindfulness Trainings – see a summary here.

Our second guest will be Queen Meccasia Zabriskie, Associate Professor of Sociology at New College. She’ll be leading the African American Policy Forum’s National Day of Action event Wednesday night, starting at 5pm at Fogartyville. There will be a Children’s Book Read-In from 5:30-6pm followed by an Adult Book Read-In from 6:15pm-7:30pm. Read more about banned books here. See the most challenged books of 2022 here.

And thanks so much to all our new WSLR members and contributors!
