Nine recordings, almost no reviews. ”…beauty is also in the ear of the beholder…”

From the soundboard recording:
REVIEW: Magic at Frost
The weather was beautiful for this afternoon show. The moon was huge nearly full and could be
seen just above the live oaks that framed the stage. There is a strange out of place yell by the
audience during the second set when an Owl flew low from one branch just stage right and crossed
directly over the mic stands to the opposite to the shock of the whole band and audience. When the
show ended and people were exiting some strange guy who looked like Alan Ginsberg on Steroids
suddenly grabbed Bill Graham and exclaimed, “This MAN MADE THIS HAPPEN!”

REVIEW: very overrated
this one goes down on my list of overrated shows. Not bad by any means but I have had this gig for
several years and find nothing spectacular about it. First set is short and weir is non existent
because he can’t get his shit together. second set is played nicely, but nothing I would seal in a
vault. I guess when the band breaks out Little Bunny foo foo, it goes down in history as a historic
night. For the life of me, I can’t believe people rave about this one. Would love others opinions on
this one. Oh well.

REVIEW: U know you’re in the Wrong place when Myland’s version of “Little Bunny Foo Foo” is
the freshest performance of the evening.
1st Set: “Touch” is what it is… Always a sunny way to open up a show. However, this version
doesn’t overly stimulate. Neither does a standard “Promised” that’s full of cheer, but nothing that’s
mandatory listening. “Row” is average, but nothing compares to Brent doing his best Doobie
Brothers singing a verse of “Little Bunny Foo Foo.” “Peggy O” is sweet but standard. Brent
certainly puts his best foot forward on “Good Times/Never Trust,” I wish the rest of his bandmates
felt/acted in the same manner. “Cassidy” is nicely executed which leads to a barely decent “Ease”
to close out the set.

2nd Set: It opens up rather blah-like with an “Iko” that all cutesy, and over played. “Stranger”
barely makes adequate considering Bobby’s having a tough time singing. “Ship” serves its purpose,
tho to combine a cold ‘Stranger’ with an unfortunate ‘Loser’ would have scored higher marks.
“Estimated” is spiky and always fun… Nothing too out of the ordinary, tho… “Drums/Space” pass
without mention. “TOO” bores as does a really rough sounding “Black Peter.” Wow, someone
needs to turn down Bobby’s guitar in this poorly recorded “Throwing.” The effort’s there for a
“NFA” but this tape is Not patched together very well. The Stanford crowd gets a mild band
sing-along which segues into a draggy “Quinn.”

I’m telling ya, that ‘Bunny Foo Foo’ is where it’s at…

REVIEW: oh well
Problems whole show and Weir is out of tune and having a rough time w/equipment. Some decent
effort (and a few very nice moments) here and there but sort of a lowest test score of an otherwise
great spring/summer.

REVIEW: generic dead
I think this is pretty generic. Brent sings the first verse and a half in cassidy which i ended up
enjoying. I thought the Iko was pushed pretty hard and it was fun. Jerry enuciates well enough to
hear a couple of funny lines. Bob is in and out on mic all show which is really distracting. No Jerry
moments that i can recall. Phil is pretty quiet. Drummers hit on a few including throwing stones
(super stock). Listen to bunny foo foo and hit the snooze button.

Only review from the audience recording:
REVIEW: Good Times
Great show with Brent’s first set “Good Times Blues”

From other recordings:
REVIEW: It was Fine
I was lucky enough to be there. Brent was emerging (after only 8 years) I’M as a loss of words but
this recording took me back. Little bunny foo foo. thanks

REVIEW: killer Morning Dew
Very good show . Well played with much energy. Band seems in high spirits with killer playing by
Jerry and Phil and all really.

REVIEW: first set better than second
killer start out of the gates and the row jimmy is terrific as bob broken chord riffing (whatever one
may call it) beautifully helps shape the tune. iko and stranger pretty hot set 2 openers and show
didn’t fade, per se, but the energy and jamming leveled off. regardless, love the show… check out
bob’s stellar work on row jimmy 🙂
