Tom Matrullo was born and raised in NYC. Tom did graduate work in literature, then taught at Pratt Institute and Parsons School of Design. He relocated to Sarasota in 1990, reporting for the Herald Tribune before moving to online media with a focus on the interface between the public and private dimensions of planning.
Tom led a citizens group (Fresh Start) to protect the Celery Fields, and has continued to advocate for planning that respects the public realm and Sarasota’s long legacy of environmental awareness.
