It is the day after Independence Day and I suppose we should be thankful that we are still free, what with all those tanks rolling down Washington DC thoroughfares. I realize some people view that spectacle as some kind of patriotic power trip, but I just can’t get the picture out of my head of tanks rolling into Prague or Tiananmen Square, which may have been “patriotic” for some, but decidedly undemocratic. But I guess that’s what you get when a reality show producer is president. This week, talking about that celebration and other topics will be State Rep. Anna Eskamani (above), a Democrat from District 47 in the Orlando area. The daughter of an Iranian immigrant, she will relate her feelings about the country and meaning of the celebration of our declaration of independence from another mad king.
