I’ve seen thousands of reviews over the years, but this actually explains “A Deadhead”…
“REVIEW: stella
As a new fan of the Dead it was years before I realized the importance of the tears streaming down
the face of the girl beside me. She seemed to be having a religious experience. Now I know why”

Longtime listeners will know that I do not intentionally broadcast commercially-released
material, and that I also do not knowingly rebroadcast something I did in the past. However, I
am not above broadcasting an audience recording of either, and, in this cast, not only have I
broadcast the soundboard, but this has been released as Dick’s Picks Vol. 12…so here is a fine
audience version! I find it kinda disappointing, tho, that they chose to combine two dates and
completely eliminate this fine first set!

REVIEW: NICE!
Nice AUD of a GREAT show!!
REVIEW: wow
better than the dicks picks!
REVIEW: Best Black Throated Wind Evah!!!!
This is one of the 1st live tapes I’ve owned in the late ’70’s and think this is the best best Black
Throated Wind I’ve ever heard. Moved up to Rhode Island in ’86 and have seen many shows at
the Civic Center, but his one is killer. One of my top 5 Dead shows.
REVIEW: Keith on electric piano, nice take
Donnatooloud, but what are you gonna do?
Reviews from other versions:
REVIEW: China Cat Prelude
Not sure (yet) how this version compares to the AUD here in the archive, but the performance is
unique and compelling. After the band hits the first familiar notes of China Cat, they decide to go
into an extended jam, instead of the song. It is several minutes before Garcia gets around to
“Look, for awhile….” When they finally get around to the verse, you can’t help but smile. Only
wish they had tried to do this more often. Truckin’ is snappy. At the end, we are treated to a short,
heavy metal solo from Phil (I kid you not) and a 747-size rumbling intro to The Other One.
Exciting stuff.
REVIEW: Top Ten!
I was lucky enough to get a SBD of the whole show before Dick released it and chopped it up (I
love you Dick!) Go buy this one, it’s a scorcher! Of the two nights, 6/26 and 6/28, this one is a
little stronger. The Other One>Spanish Jam shows why 1974 is the favorite year for many.
Hey,and the Eyes encore is also very strong. One of the more enegetic shows for 1974. Go get
Dick’s Picks #12 the best of his 74 releases.
REVIEW: ridiculous show!
of course the 28th is better, considering it contains the greatest Dead jam of all time, but this
show is almost as good. the DP 12 2nd set excerpt is great from start to finish. china>rider is the
longest ever as far as I know, and of course, epically jammed. the Spanish jam is super long too,
the truckin’ and sugar mags are extra spicy, with a side of jalapenos. and how are you gonna beat
a eyes encore that also happens to be one of the finest these ears have ever heard? you can’t. just
find this anyway you can!
REVIEW: *****
China Cat and Spanish Jam are excellent. Big River kicks.
REVIEW: WHEW !!
this entire show is without question one of the all-time greats.
REVIEW: Ear Porn
Geez, this whole concert is thrilling. ’74 was a most psychedelic era. Great sound.
REVIEW: amazing
just an awsome show…with one of the best eyes of the worlds to end it…also one of my favorite
china cat sunflowers…this show featured on dicks picks 12…unreal stuff
REVIEW: Synchronicity
Very cool China Cat although I think the Mind/Rider meanders. Fun Beer Barrel Polka. This
Eyes encore sets up the next show beautifuly where the day in between the Dead released Mars
Hotel. The heat was on in Beantown.
REVIEW: Good ole’ Dead
This show is indeed a pleasure to listen to.Prepare yourself, crank it up and you’re there again.
Now more than ever.
There are many more…you get the picture…
