Wealth Inequality, then Water & Land – Weds. Sept. 23 at 9am on Peace & Justice

Written by on Sunday, September 20, 2020

On Wednesday, September 23rd at 9am, we talked to Chuck Collins of the Institute for Policy Studies and their program on Inequality and the Common Good. We talked about his areas of concern: dynasty trusts, estate taxes, hidden wealth, inequality, offshore taxes, philanthropy, progressive populism, the racial wealth gap, tax reform, and tax subsidies. Be sure to read about the Billionaire Bonanza 2020 HERE.

Our second guests were Christine Johnson, President of the Conservation Foundation of the Gulf Coast and Merrie Lynn Parker, Secretary-Treasurer of Manatee Fish and Game Association.

They talked about the upcoming opportunity for Manatee voters to vote for clean water and the protection of wildlife habitat on the November 3, 2020 general election ballot. The measure would provide dedicated county funding for water quality protection, natural areas preservation, and parks in Manatee County. The ballot language and FAQs are HERE.
