For the first show of the year, Steve and Lew will be joined by Susan Harley (above), Deputy Director of Congress Watch at Public Citizen, who will dissect the recently passed tax reform bill.  Republican architects of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act have been peddling it as middle-class tax relief and an economic stimulus that will create millions of new jobs. However, most non partisan analysis of the law indicates that the only thing that will definitely grow as a result of this bill is the deficit to the tune of $1.5 trillion in ten years.  As the saying goes, you got to spend a little to make a lot, but does this bill pay for anything more than huge tax cuts for the wealthiest among us? I think not. It would be one thing to jack up the deficit for say new roads and bridges, which the population sorely needs and would certainly create jobs. But instead all that new debt, which we all share, will go towards buying some wicked rich guy another Rolls Royce or an upgraded yacht.
