“Yesterday’s Dead Today”, Monday, December 19th, 7-9pm Eastern

Written by on Sunday, December 18, 2022

I’ve seen thousands of reviews over the years, but this actually explains “A Deadhead”…
“REVIEW: stella
As a new fan of the Dead it was years before I realized the importance of the tears streaming down
the face of the girl beside me. She seemed to be having a religious experience. Now I know why”

Before my regular Grateful Dead offering tonight, here’s a little different “christmas cheer” for
you. I feel justified in playing this on my show since the Dead did play half of it, and I won’t be
on the air again until after Christmas…

Dick’s Picks 1 Leftovers
David Gans(with D. Finney) seeded tree

“In the CD liner notes, Donna Jean Godchaux is listed in the band lineup and credited as
“giving birth”; she had temporarily stopped touring with the band as she was about to have her
first son, Zion.”

From the outset, they determined that people wouldn’t but releases of more than two discs. BOY,
were they wrong! And, as far as I can determine, the Dick’s Picks 1 outtakes have never been
released, so, here goes!

1. Promised Land
2. Sugaree
3. Mexicasli Blues
4. Dire Wolf
5. Black Throated Wind
6. Candy Man
7. Jack Straw
8. El Paso
9. Ramble On Rose
10. Me and Bobby McGee
11. Row Jimmy
12. Casey Jones

Jerry Garcia – lead guitar, vocals
Bob Weir – rhythm guitar, vocals
Phil Lesh – bass, vocals
Keith Godchaux – keyboards
Bill Kreutzmann – drums

REVIEW: Dicks Picks Vol. 1 Leftovers
Added the leftovers to my Dicks Picks file,so i would have complete show.

REVIEW: Great Leftovers
Candyman! Dire Wolf Jimmy Row Bob Mcgee transition from Miss 1/2 step… Great leftovers to
say the least.

REVIEW: Love leftovers
Thank you.The keys in the outro jam after Truckin’ are ridiculous. You will not be able to help
yourself from playing air piano. Keith is absolutely beating on the keys like they owed him
money.

REVIEW: Spectacular closing show to ’73
Dick’s Picks 1 has some problems:

REVIEW: great stuff
yup, except for, well , the ones that aren’t …the row jimmy is great, this stuff is as good or better
than the release…except , of course , that which ain’t…

And, as the last half hour allows:
Scaring The Children

1. Take Me To The River
2. Fever
3. Queen Jane Approximately
4. Looks Like Rain
5. Chestnuts Roasting O’er an Open Fire instr.
6. God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen instr.
7. Youngblood

Bob Weir made a short tape in ’91 to give out to his friends at christmas. I happened to meet his
personal trianer at someone’s house and she said “here try playing this”. SO, instead of just
playing it I copied it (with her permission). Unfortunatly the only deck at My friends mothers
house was a dubbing deck. Don’t ask me what, it was way too long ago.

This was a christmas gift. Bob made for his friends. This copy was made from the cassette given
to his personal trainer at the time.

This is what was hand written on her case:
