“Adventures In Jazzland”, covered by Mark Binder
Community Radio WSLR 96.5 FM,

Join me as I cover the show while programmer Mike Finly is out
somewhere, celebrating his birthday!

Featuring a two-hour tribute to the world-renowned left-handed
trombonist, Slide Hampton. We got to meet Slide many years ago
at his nephew’s(cornetist Marcus Hampton) monthly jazz jam in
Tampa. Slide came down for the first(and only “Hampton House
Of Jazz Festival”(incidently, by happenstance, this was also the
first time we met legendary reeds player Ira Sullivan). I had the
great good fortune to record Slide here a couple of times, and will
end the show with the only known(as far as I can determine) of
Slide playing with the late, great keyboardist, Kenny Drew Jr.:

Featuring the following commercially-released albums: “The Two
Sides Of Slide”; “Exodus”; “World Of Trombones”; ‘Dedicated To
Diz”; “Inclusion”; “Sister Salvation”; “Slide Plays Jobim”; and
finally, my recording of Slide with Kenny Jr. at The Hampton
House Of Jazz, 10/20/02.
