Our guest this Wednesday at 9am will be Philip Tavill. He’s the CEO of Children First, the provider of Head Start services here in Sarasota County.
Head Start serves at-risk and economically vulnerable families with young children. It’s a program tailored for children three to five years of age which provides early education, health, dental, vision, hearing and developmental screenings, and coordination of appropriate therapies to address the individual child’s needs. Services also include support for the entire family through family strengthening classes and individual family goal setting to achieve economic self-sufficiency. 388 children were served during the 2020 calendar year.
Children First holds the distinction of being a 4-time designated Head Start “Program of Excellence” and is ranked in the top 1% out of over 1,800 Head Starts nationwide.
